What’s been happening
In October, we hosted a discussion about “Broken Republik”, the new book by Chris Reiter and Will Wilkes. We also invited members to an Oktoberfest Stammtisch at Albert’s Schloss and we celebrated the 90th birthday of our Royal Patron, HRH The Duke of Kent, by bringing together different charities to discuss HRH’s long life of service.
In November, we were delighted to partner with the London Bach Society to honour 275 years since the death of Johann Sebastian Bach with a talk by Michael Maul, director of Leipzig Bach Fest, and music by Florian Stortz. We also organised an online event with baker Jürgen Krauss on his new book “The German Christmas Cookbook”.
The year ended with our traditional Carols and Readings in conjunction with Christuskirche Knightsbridge and a curator-led tour of German art at The National Gallery, London, with Dr Emma Capron.

Work we’ve done so far
Along with our lively events programme and monthly newsletters, we have launched a podcast series called Understanding Germany, initiated a regional partnership between Greater Manchester and the Ruhr, set up a best practice guide for town-twinning associations, and supported over 500 schools in teaching German.

Support us
The BGA is now playing a greater role in British-German relations than ever before. We receive no regular funding from any Government, and our income from individual membership fees covers less than a fifth of our running costs. So we are reliant on donors to continue and expand our work. Your support is hugely appreciated.
