Alys Martinez

Alys Martinez is a multi-media journalist and reporter at CBS LA. She joined the team in 2024. During the week, she shoots, writes, and edits a wide range of stories, from crime to immigration and human interest. During the weekends, you will find her reporting for CBS LA Weekend Mornings.

With more than a decade of news experience, Alys has provided in depth-coverage of some of the biggest news stories, including the Thomas Fire, Montecito Mudslides, and the Eaton and Palisades Fires. In 2018, Alys was a part of Emmy-award-winning coverage of the Thomas Fire.

Alys's journalism career began at the assignment desk at KEYT-TV in Santa Barbara where she worked her way up to become the morning anchor.

Alys was born and raised in Long Beach, California. She earned a degree in Spanish from UC Santa Barbara and has used her bilingual skills throughout her career.
