FAQ for Vendors
- We are small but mighty! Unlike other craft fairs where the individual impact of a single vendor can be diluted in a large space with lots of competition, our highly curated selection means that each vendor receives plenty of attention within an elevated environment. We have a great audience from a mix of diverse backgrounds and age groups. Vendors rave about how engaged, friendly, and appreciative our arts-oriented members and visitors are! We offer pay-what-you-can admission on Sundays, making the event welcoming to all.
- Craft Contemporary is a museum and 501(c)3 non-profit that has been providing compelling art exhibits, educational programming, and community-building workshops to the greater Los Angeles area for over 60 years. Proceeds from our annual Market help sustain our institution for the future!
- In line with the museum’s mission, our award-winning Shop supports and promotes local established and emerging artists, providing valuable, artist-focused promotion, including branded social media posts, to help spread the word about your work!
- The Market is held in Craft Contemporary’s outdoor courtyard, facing Wilshire Blvd. In the unlikely event of rain, vendors will move indoors to the museum’s gallery and workshop spaces.
The Marketplace will take place in the museum's outdoor courtyard over the weekend of:
- Friday, December 5th (Special Preview 6 – 9 PM)
- Saturday, December 6 (11 AM – 5 PM)
- Sunday, December 5th (11 AM – 5 PM)
- The call for entries is open from 9/03/25 to 9/30/25. Applications for Makers Market are now closed.
- To apply, we ask that you fill out a brief form telling us about you, your work, and the kinds of items you plan to sell. We will also ask for sample images. There is no fee to apply.
- Applications will be accepted from 9/3/25 to 9/30/25. All applicants will be notified of the selection decision by October 15.
- Our selection committee is looking for a diverse but cohesive mix of merchandise and vendors that reflects the breadth of craft practices and makers working in the LA-area today. We will also consider local resellers of vintage or imported handcrafted goods following ethical and sustainable sourcing practices.
- Price points are not mandated, but we do look for vendors who have items for sale at a range of prices.
- There is no application fee.
- We collect a table fee of $300 from selected vendors for the entire event weekend (Preview Evening, Saturday, and Sunday)
- Each vendor will be individually responsible for their sales, and will keep 100% of their profits.
- Vendors are provided with a 6-foot table and seating for up to two people.
- If you prefer to bring your own display fixtures, keep in mind that your entire setup (including space for you!) must fit within a 4’ x 6’ footprint. All alternative displays must be approved in advance. Craft Contemporary does not provide any display racks, extension cords, tablecloths, signage, etc. Access to an electrical outlet may be requested, but due to space limitations, is not guaranteed. Shade umbrellas are strategically placed to provide shade during the sunniest hours of the day, but we encourage you to bring a hat!
- Vendors provide their unique designed and handcrafted wares! They also provide approved display fixtures, tablecloths, signage, extension cords, and any other items needed to create a fun and eye-catching display for their work.
- Vendors bring all their own bags and packaging so that customers can easily and safely transport their purchases.
- Vendors agree to keep their table staffed with at least one person at all times during the event. They are also responsible for setting up and taking down their entire display each day. Overnight on-site storage is provided on Friday and Saturday.
- Each vendor will be individually responsible for their sales, and will keep 100% of their profits.
-
Vendors are expected to arrive one and a half hours before the Market hours each day in order to setup.
-
They are also responsible for packing up their station at closing time, and storing it inside the museum.
- Selected vendors will receive a payment form upon acceptance. Payment must be submitted within 30 days of receiving the notice. Vendors who cancel within four (4) weeks of the event start date will be eligible for a partial refund. Cancellations made less than four weeks before the event are not eligible for a refund of the table fee.
