Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi Admission Experience

Last Updated : 15 Jun, 2026

I joined IIITD, the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi

And I can help people to join this prestigious college, which has international recognition

I joined as an International student, yet I have a scholarship, and its amount changes every semester

IIIT-Delhi is highly research-centric and widely respected for its specialised IT and tech-focused programs. While Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) are the flagship courses, the institute stands out for its highly specialised, interdisciplinary B.Tech programs:

Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence (CSAI)

Computer Science & Design (CSD)

Computer Science & Social Sciences (CSSS)

Computer Science & Biosciences (CSB)

As an international applicant, you generally do not have to compete through the high-pressure domestic entrance exam (JEE Mains) unless you want to. Instead, you have four distinct pathways to secure a seat: Direct Admission Routes IIIT-Delhi International Admissions Portal: You apply directly through the university’s dedicated foreign student portal. Selection is heavily based on your high school academic performance (Grades 9–12 transcripts), standardised test scores (like the SAT, if available), and letters of recommendation. DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad): A centralised scheme by the Government of India for foreign nationals, OCI, and PIO students. Admission through DASA prioritises merit lists based on your high school equivalency. SII (Study in India) & ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations): These are premier government-sponsored pathways that often include robust, fully funded or heavily subsidised tuition scholarships.

Academic Eligibility

You must have completed a schooling system equivalent to Class XII of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. Mathematics and physics are mandatory core subjects in your senior high school years, with chemistry being highly desirable. A minimum aggregate of roughly 70% (or equivalent GPA) is standard

The Assessment and Interview Process: Unlike domestic admissions, which rely purely on a single exam score, the international pathway at IIIT-Delhi uses a holistic evaluation. If you apply directly through the IIIT-Delhi international portal, the evaluation process typically includes the Online Math Test. Depending on your qualifying board curriculum, the admission committee frequently administers an online, proctored mathematics test to gauge your core analytical skills.
