Lovely Professional University (CSE – AI & ML)

Lovely Professional University (LPU), located in Phagwara, Punjab, is one of the largest private universities in India. The campus is modern, well-structured, and equipped with advanced labs, a central library, hostels, sports facilities, and multiple food courts. The diverse student population creates a vibrant and competitive learning environment.

My Journey (As A First Year Freshman )

In the first year, adapting to the huge campus and academic structure was challenging but exciting. Orientation programs helped in understanding the system, and interactions with seniors made the transition smoother.

During the second and third years, as a CSE (AI & ML) student, I studied core subjects like Data Structures, Machine Learning, Python, and Database Systems. Along with academics, I focused on self-learning through online platforms, coding practice, and mini-projects, as the curriculum alone was not sufficient for industry readiness.

Campus Environment

The campus environment is competitive and diverse. Faculty members are generally supportive, and students are encouraged to explore beyond academics. However, due to the large number of students, individual attention can sometimes be limited.

Fests, Hackathons & Activities

LPU hosts large-scale cultural and technical fests, hackathons, coding competitions, and workshops. These events provide great exposure, teamwork experience, and practical problem-solving opportunities, especially for tech students.

Placements

Placements at LPU depend heavily on individual skills and preparation. Many IT and mass-recruiter companies visit the campus. Students who start early with DSA, projects, and communication skills generally perform better during placement season.

What I Learned

Importance of self-learning beyond syllabus, Could have been better:

More industry-oriented practical exposure within regular coursework.

Final Thoughts, My experience at LPU as a CSE (AI & ML) student was a mix of challenges and opportunities. The university provides a strong platform, but the final outcome depends on how well students utilize the available resources.
