I have had my trials on the IPU CET, Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test to get admission for CSE in MAIT. This article is a chronological process of my preparation, my approach to the actual exams and my experience analyzing the process.
Preparation Phase:
Books Used:
- H C Verma’s Concepts of Physics is one of the most popular textbooks that is divided into 2 volumes.
- Another book is Mathematics written by R. D. Sharma, an Indian educator and author who has contributed immensely towards the development of school mathematics in India.
- Objective Mathematics is one of the best mathematics books for IITJEE, AIEEE and other competitive examinations prepared by R. D. Sharma.
- Achieving the goal of making chemistry more comprehensive and easy to understand, the book ‘Objective Chemistry’ has been written by R. K. Gupta. ”
Online Resources:
- For an understanding of computer science basics GeeksforGeeks Website with the URL ‘‘www. gfg. com’’ is most effective.
- The following YouTube channels helped me a lot for physics and chemistry Alakh Pandey sir and for Maths Neha Agarwal Mam.
- Sample papers of previous year's tests and sample papers for mock tests under examination conditions.
Exam Details:
Types of Questions:
- The test section was formed from the MCQs only, which is more convenient for the analysis of the results.
- The questions were from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics; there were a few questions from Computers at the basic level also.
- As a general theme, the problems were easy to moderate in their complexity with a few harder questions being presented.
Attempt Strategy:
Order of Attempt:
- To begin with, I chose Mathematics, which does not give me much difficulty in answering questions. This employed me and enabled me because it hastened my problem-solving skills and reduced my shyness.
- I proceeded to the Physics section by responding to the theoretical questions and then followed up by tackling the numerical questions.
- Last of all, despite was left with chemistry, which I undertook starting with organic/inorganic or physical, beginning with sections and ending with problems.
- I even scattered some questions from Computer Science section as I found they were easier in contrast to Mathematics.
Exam Environment:
- The examination centre was quite arranged and the invigilators were very specific in some of the instructions they gave.
- In terms of chairing the seating was well done enough space was provided and everyone had enough room to work.
- Specifically, there was tense and concentrated air within the working spaces, which is helpful when it comes to concentrating.
- Some include health facilities like toilets that were clean and water dispensing amenities like water coolers among others.
Reflection:
- Although I tried to address all the issues I faced in the assignment adequately, time management was one of the most pressing problems. I had less time to answer tough questions, spending much more time than expected on the same section.
- After the completed exam I understood that the way I am solving MCQs often needs enhancement when it comes to time-constrained interventions.
- Regrettably, my percentile rank fell short of the mark required to get me through MAIT for a CSE seat. Yet this has prompted me towards the areas that I would require to work on and perhaps devise a good strategy in case of the next examinations.
On the whole, I found the IPUCET as one of the most enriching and fulfilling tests that I have ever written. Issues related to exams were explained to me and the tactics that were established to help in the preparation of exams prove useful when I get to the college level.
