What is a Subject Pronoun? 

Subject pronouns are used in place of nouns. It is placed just before the verb at beginning of the sentence. Subject pronoun acts as a subject in a sentence.

A word that takes the place of a subject in a sentence is called a subject pronoun. Subject pronouns are used as a subject.

Subject Pronoun vs Object Pronoun

A subject pronoun is used as a subject. It replaces the subject of a sentence. 

The object pronoun is used as an object. It replaces the object of the sentence. 

The subject pronoun performs the action of the verb whereas the object pronoun is impacted by the action in a sentence.

How to Use Subject Pronouns in a Sentence 

The subject pronoun is usually placed just before the verb in the first part of the sentence. Subject pronoun behaves as a subject so it may be a person or a thing which performs the action. 

How to Use Subject Pronouns in a Compound Subject

A compound subject is made up of two or more nouns or pronouns. We can use plural subject pronouns in place of compound subjects. 

The subject pronoun in a compound subject is joined by Conjunctions such as 'or', 'and', 'nor' etc. When a subject pronoun is connected by 'or' or 'nor' conjunctions, the verb follows the closest subject. 

Examples : 

1. Ram and Shyam go to school. 

=> They go to school. 

2. Either he or you is right. 

3. Neither I nor they are wrong. 

When to Use Subject Pronouns

A subject pronoun is used in place of a noun which is the subject of the sentence. Subject pronouns can be first, second or third person. It can also be singular or plural. 

Examples : I, we, she, he, they, it etc.
