Cognizant Interview Experience for GenC Pro Cybersecurity

Hello Everyone! Cognizant is a global IT services and consulting company that provides digital, technology, consulting, and operations services. With a strong presence in over 40 countries, Cognizant is known for hiring engineering graduates through its GenC, GenC Pro, and GenC Next programs, catering to both freshers and domain-specialised roles such as Cybersecurity, Full Stack, and Digital Engineering.

How I Got the Interview Call?

I applied for Cognizant through the on-campus placement process. We didn’t register separately for GenC, GenC Pro, or GenC Next. Instead, based on the certificates we uploaded during registration and our performance in the assessments, candidates were shortlisted for specific roles.

After completing the Communication, Aptitude and Gamified, and Technical Assessment rounds, some students were selected for the GenC Pro role, and I was one among them. The entire application and selection process was conducted through Superset.

Recruitment Process Overview

Round 1: Initial Screening

Once the application was submitted, eligible candidates were automatically shortlisted and received invites for the assessments.

Round 2: Communication Assessment

• Date: March 13, 2025
• Duration: 30 minutes
• Mode: Online (via Superset)

Focus Areas:

• Communication and listening skills
• Grammar correction
• Sentence formation
• Fluency and pronunciation

Obstacles: The audio was fast-paced and required full concentration to answer the comprehension tasks correctly.

Round 3. Aptitude and Gamified Assessment

• Date: March 19, 2025
• Duration: 90 minutes
• Mode: Online

Focus Areas:

• Quantitative aptitude
• Logical reasoning
• Puzzle-solving through gamified scenarios

Key Tasks: Pattern recognition, mathematical reasoning, and decision-making in real-time game environments.

Obstacles: Adaptive difficulty and tight timing made the puzzles tricky to solve under pressure.

Round 4: Technical Assessment

• Date: March 27, 2025
• Duration: 60 minutes
• Mode: Online

Focus Areas:

• Programming logic
• Code debugging
• Output prediction

Note: Question difficulty varied based on the student’s assigned technology cluster (mine was Java + SQL).

Round 5: Technical + HR Interview

• Date: May 16, 2025
• Duration: 40–45 minutes
• Mode: Online Video Interview

Once shortlisted, I received an email from Cognizant/Superset with the interview schedule. The interview platform was a customized virtual meeting room that included integrated code editors and an interview panel. I was notified via both email and SMS when it was my turn to join.

Interview Questions: Technical (Cybersecurity, Web, Programming):

• Introduce yourself
• What is cryptography and why is it used?
• What are the different types of cryptographic algorithms?
• What is phishing? Types of phishing?
• How do you identify a phishing email?
• Explain penetration testing
• Write a program to print duplicate characters in a string
• How would you improve this program further?
• Difference between Java and JavaScript
• How to link a CSS file to HTML?
• How to navigate between tabs using HTML?
• Purpose of <canvas> tag
• What validation methods did you use in your projects?
• Use of SQL for data storage and insertion
• SQL query to add a new column
• Explain Joins and Union in SQL
• Difference between DELETE and TRUNCATE
• Using dates/calendars in HTML
• Difference between ordered and unordered lists

HR Questions:

• Why are you interested in cybersecurity?
• Rate yourself in Cybersecurity, Java, and SQL
• Willingness to relocate?
• Open to working in shifts?
• Can you join from May 25?
• Are you comfortable taking up different roles if required?
• Do you have any questions for us?

Challenges Faced:

• Mixture of technical depth and HR questions
• HTML-related syntax of HTML 5 questions were a bit tricky
• Coding questions tested implementation clarity and alternative logic

Post-Interview Refelection

• Superset status changed to: “Interim Offer” on May 28, 2025
• Got Letter of Intent (LOI) on “JUNE 19 “ and waiting for further onboarding instructions.

Final Thoughts:

If you're preparing for Cognizant GenC Pro Cybersecurity, make sure your basics in Java, SQL, Cybersecurity, and HTML/CSS are strong. Be confident, speak clearly, and practice mock interviews with behavioral questions. Also, keep an eye on your Superset dashboard and emails for updates!
