After a whirlwind of emotions and challenges, I’m overjoyed to share my interview experience with Google for the role of a Software Engineer Winter Intern. This journey taught me invaluable lessons in perseverance, preparation, and maintaining a clear mindset under pressure.
I applied for the position through the Google Careers platform on September 17. After 15 days, I received an email notifying me that my resume had been shortlisted! The process officially began with a pre-placement talk, where we were introduced to the selection stages:
The following day, my recruiter conducted a detailed review of my resume. The focus was on:
This round felt more like a friendly conversation than an evaluation, which boosted my confidence for the upcoming stages.
A week later, I received a link for my first technical interview. This round was focused on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) and tested medium-to-hard level problem-solving skills.

While the follow-up questions were tricky, I managed to solve them by staying calm and communicating my thought process effectively.
Five days later, I received an email confirming that I’d cleared the first round and was invited for the second interview. This round was more challenging and focused on:
I was tasked with returning large elements from an array based on specific conditions. The follow-up questions were especially tricky, requiring efficient solutions within given time constraints.
Although the complexity of the problem pushed me to think deeper, I was able to navigate the challenges with logical reasoning and clear communication.
Fifteen suspenseful days later, I received an urgent Google Meet invite from my recruiter. During the call, I was ecstatic to hear that I had been offered the position!
This journey has been an incredible learning experience filled with excitement, hard work, and determination. For anyone preparing for similar interviews, here’s my advice:
