HCL Graduate Engineer Trainee Campus Interview Experience [2024]

HCL came in my campus and it was a campus recruitment test. We all submitted the form and i was shortlisted by the company for the next round.

Round 1: Aptitude test of about 2 hours (Online) (4th December 2024)

Included basic concepts like numerical and reasoning ability. The test was about 2 hours in length and contained multiple sections.

Round 2: Group Discussion (Online) (16th December, 2024)

A 15 minute group discussion and the topic was " Should Cell Phones be allowed in school or not?"

I did convey my thinking, and though we were not able to reach a conclusion in the 15 minutes window, I still got shortlisted for the next round.

Round 3: Technical Interview 1 (17th December, 2024)

I was asked to introduce myself. Then the interviewer got to my resume and asked me to explain my projects. I took the liberty of asking him to explain another project that i was working on but it was not mentioned in the resume. He agreed and then I explained the project. The interviewer was pretty impressed with the project.

He then asked me the language I was most comfortable in, Python was my answer. He then asked few questions about Python.

Question 1: What are hashtags used for in Python?
Question 2: What is pip ?

He then asked me if i knew anything about cloud technologies existing in the market place and asked me to name a few.

He was okay with my answers and told me that he will submit my feedback and the next steps will follow . He asked me if i had any questions, i asked him for a feedback and he gave a very positive feedback for my project and communication abilities.

Round 4: HR Round 1 (17th December, 2024)

The interviewer asked me to again introduce myself which I did. The follow up question was about my family, from where I belong and how many members are there. As I told about my city the interviewer followed up with my views on 'Women Empowerment in my city' followed by 'Women Empowerment in my home'. I expressed my views and it went well. The interviewer then asked if I had any questions, i then again asked for feedback. I again received positive feedback for my communication abilities.

Round 5: HR Round 2 (17th December, 2024)

It was a very simple round which focused on document verification, Resume, School Marksheets (Both Xth and XIIth), Graduation Marksheet till last semester along with very few basic questions like your interests, hobbies etc. I answered all the questions but since i had active backlog in 6th semester result (although i had applied for rechecking), i was not selected for the role.
