Infosys -DSE| Interview Experience|hackwithinfy

Last Updated : 10 Jun, 2025

Hello everyone! I am a 2025 graduate, and I applied for Hackwithinfy 2024. The interview process, which eventually led to my selection for the DSE role at Infosys, was an experience filled with anticipation, technical challenges, and learning opportunities.

Recruitment Process Overview

  • Online Test
  • Shortlisting for DSE Round
  • Technical Interview

Round 1: Online Test

I applied for Hackwithinfy in August 2024. The online assessment consisted of three questions with a time duration of 3 hours. Out of the three, I managed to solve one difficult-level problem, which gave me the confidence to move forward. It was a challenging round, but I was glad to have completed it to the best of my ability.

Obstacles:

Only a select few candidates were able to make it through this round and move on to the next phase. It was a tough start, but I was fortunate enough to be one of them.

Round 2: Shortlisting for DSE Role

After a few months of waiting, I received an email in January 2025 informing me that I had been shortlisted for the DSE role. The email also asked me to select a location for my interview. I chose Bangalore, as it was the most convenient location for me.

Waiting Period:

After selecting the location, there was no communication from Infosys for a few months. This waiting period was long, but I stayed patient and prepared for the interview.

Round 3: Technical Interview

The interviewer started by asking me for a self-introduction. Then, he asked for my opinion on Artificial Intelligence (AI), including its advantages and disadvantages. This was an interesting start, as it gave me a chance to express my thoughts on a current technological topic.

Technical Questions:

After the initial discussion, the interviewer moved on to the technical section. The questions covered various topics, testing my knowledge and problem-solving abilities in different areas:

  1. Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) – I was asked questions to demonstrate my understanding of OOP principles.
  2. SQL and ER Diagrams – A few questions on SQL queries and Entity-Relationship diagrams were posed.
  3. Coding Challenges – I was given three coding problems to solve:
    • Fibonacci Series without Using a Temporary Variable
    • ArrayList-related Problem
    • Exception Handling Problem

The interviewer also asked me to run the code and check its correctness.

  1. Additional Questions:
    • I was given some code snippets in C language and asked to determine the output.
    • Questions on HTML and CSS were also asked, focusing on basic concepts and their applications.

The interview was entirely technical, and there were no HR questions. The interviewer did not ask me to explain my projects, which was a bit unusual but didn’t make a significant impact on my performance. The interview lasted for about 45 minutes.

Final Outcome

After the interview, I didn’t hear anything for about 10 days, which felt like an eternity. But then, on April 18th, 2025, I received an email from my TPO (Training and Placement Officer) that I had been selected for the DSE role at Infosys with a package of 6.25 LPA. I was overjoyed and relieved to know that my efforts had paid off.
