Infosys Interview Experience for System engineer

Last Updated : 24 Jun, 2025

I recently participated in the Infosys recruitment process for the role of System Engineer and am happy to share that I was selected. The recruitment was held through a pool-campus, with the results being declared in January 2025. I'm excited about this opportunity and look forward to joining Infosys as a System Engineer.

Recruitment Process Overview

The recruitment process has only two rounds

  • Written Test
  • HR/Technical Round

Round 1: Online Test (Written Assessment)

The first round was an online written test comprising 7 sections, including:

Duration: 2 hours

Mode: Online

The first round was an online written test comprising 7 sections, including:

  • Aptitude
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Verbal Ability
  • Mental Ability
  • Basic Programming (5 code snippets)
  • Pseudocode-based Questions
  • Essay Writing

There was no negative marking, no sectional timing, and the flow was not unidirectional, which was a great relief. We were informed in the pre-talk that scoring above 75% in each section was crucial to move forward, along with an overall cutoff.

The difficulty level was easy to moderate, and overall, I found the test to be manageable without much preparation.

Round 2: Technical + HR Interview

  • Duration: 20 minutes
  • Mode: Offline
  • Difficulty: Easy

I received the interview call a day after the test, and the interview was scheduled for the next morning at 9 AM. I wasn’t expecting such a quick turnaround, so I had to rush to make it to the venue on time.

The interviewer was calm and made me feel comfortable throughout. The interaction covered both technical and HR questions.

Technical Questions:

  • Explained my Capstone Project in detail
  • Asked to write a Palindrome program
  • Asked which language I preferred: Java or Python, and why

HR Questions:

  • Have you done any activities other than academics?
  • You've studied in your hometown throughout; will you be able to relocate?
  • Why do you prefer taking up a job instead of going for higher studies?
  • Describe a stressful situation and how you managed it
  • What’s your opinion on Generative AI?
  • How do you use AI in your daily life?

Since my resume mentioned AI & ML specialization, the interviewer asked me about a recent AI trend released the previous day. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of it as I hadn’t checked the news. He even tried to give hints, but I couldn’t answer it correctly.

Despite that, the interview ended on a positive note with a "Good luck and all the best!" from the interviewer.

Tips for Future Aspirants

  • Be prepared to talk about your projects and resume points in detail
  • Brush up on basic coding questions (like palindrome, prime number, etc.)
  • Stay updated with the latest technology trends, especially if your resume highlights related skills
  • Be confident and honest if you don’t know something
  • You don’t need to prepare heavily for the written test – the questions are basic and very doable.

Final Verdict

A few days later, the results were announced, and I was selected for the System Engineer role at Infosys.

Note: After one month, Infosys conducted upgradation interviews for selected candidates. Based on performance and merit, some candidates were offered roles in Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE) and Specialist Programmer (SP) with higher packages. This was a great opportunity for those who performed well to move into more challenging and rewarding roles — definitely a huge bonus in the overall process!

Wishing everyone the best of luck!
