Recently, I had an interview with Infosys and I got selected as a System Engineer at Infosys.
Candidate Information:

Overview of the Interview Process:
The selection process for Infosys involved two main rounds: an Assessment Round followed by a Personal Interview. Below is a breakdown of the stages.
Round 1: Assessment Round (Computer-Based Test)
The test was divided into 7 sections, each with its own sectional cutoff. The questions were a mix of easy to moderate difficulty.
- Duration: 2 hours
- Mode: Offline (in-person)
Focus Areas:
- Logical Reasoning
- Data Interpretation
- English Grammar & Writing
- Mathematics
- Pseudocodes
Obstacles:
- While the test was manageable, the sectional cutoffs meant that performance in each section was critical. Time management was crucial to ensure that no section was skipped.
- The variety of topics tested required broad preparation, especially in areas like pseudocodes and logical reasoning
Round 2: Personal Interview
- Duration: 20-25 minutes
- Mode: In-person interview
Focus: Resume based questions, Description of final year project, some managerial questions
Key Questions Asked:
Managerial:
- How do you handle rejections?
- How do you manage time and prioritize tasks?
Project-based:
- Please explain your final-year project in detail.
Academic Performance:
- Why has your CGPA been declining in college?
Technical Process Questions:
- What is the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)?
- Who is a Scrum Master?
- What is Sprint Planning?
Obstacles:
They asked me why my cgpa in college was lower than my high school academic performance and asked me to justify it. They also asked about the Software Development Life Cycle like who is a scrum master, what is sprint planning, etc.
Post-Interview Reflections:
- Company Culture Insights: The company culture was great. Everyone was very humble and interviews went on smoothly. The interview felt more like a general conversation and went great. The result was announced shortly after the interview.
- Work Environment: The work environment at Infosys is great. It equips you to tackle future challenges. Their training is so vigorous that it will make you ready for greater job opportunities.
- Benefits Highlight: The training takes place at their Mysore Centre. they provide accommodation and food for the period of your training.
- Evaluator Feedback: The interviewer was very humble and the interview felt like a normal conversation. He even assisted me if I was answering in the wrong direction.
- Suggestions for Improvement: Well they could separate the technical and HR interview.
Final Outcome
The interview is held on the next day of the assessment and the result in generally announced shortly after the interview. Make sure to prepare for the assessment round beforehand because clearing the assessment is more important.
Only 5% of the people cleared the assessment and those who advanced to the interviews mostly got the final selection offer. The interview is more managerial than a technical and is not very hard to crack. The key is to have good communication skills and convey your thoughts effectively to the interviewer.
