Round 1: Technical + Written English + Gamified
I recently participated in an On Campus drive at Capgemini, and while I was ultimately selected for a competitive package, the journey was anything but easy. In the first round, candidates face multiple sections within a single test, and progression depends on qualifying each section. The entire test lasts about 2 hours, so managing time effectively is crucial.
The technical section includes 25 MCQs focused on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) and programming, followed by 15 questions that cover essential topics from cloud computing, operating systems (OS), and networking. Given the breadth of these topics, it’s vital to brush up on your fundamentals to stand a chance of qualifying.
Should you pass this technical section, you’ll then encounter the Written English test. In this part, you'll be required to write a 200-220 word paragraph on general topics like pollution or the effects of heatwaves on the public—this tests not only your writing skills but also your ability to articulate thoughts clearly under time constraints.
Once you clear the English test, the next hurdle is the Gamified round, which features various logical and memory games. Familiarizing yourself with similar exercises through YouTube resources can be beneficial, but the unpredictability of this section can throw many candidates off their game. After completing all the rounds, you’ll need to wait for the results. If you performed well, you can expect an invitation for the Coding round within 2-3 working days.
Round 2: Online Coding Test
This round presents a set of coding challenges designed to test your algorithmic thinking and coding skills under pressure.
Problem List:
Problem Statement: Given a linked list, return the head of the reversed Linked List.
Input Format: 1->2->3->4->5
Result: 5->4->3->2->1
Explanation: You’re provided with the head of a linked list and must return the list where the elements are reversed in order.
Problem Statement: Given a string, print the count of every character.
Input Format: Hello
Result:

These problems require not only a solid understanding of data structures but also the ability to implement efficient algorithms quickly.
In this round, the interview commenced with my introduction. The interviewer delved deeply into my projects, probing the technicalities of each. I showcased three projects, utilizing different technologies: one in Java, another in Web Development, and the third employing the Selenium framework in Python. The discussion was thorough, demanding a clear articulation of my contributions and challenges faced during each project.
Following this, I was tasked with writing two SQL queries involving simple joins. The interviewer’s scrutiny intensified as I was asked to open a notepad and write code to reverse a string. The technical questions further escalated with deep inquiries into Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, requiring me to demonstrate a nuanced understanding of the principles involved.
Additionally, I faced several challenging questions related to cloud computing, especially concerning AWS. The interviewer probed my knowledge of cloud architecture and services, making it evident that a solid grasp of these topics was essential for success.
The interview concluded with basic HR questions, leading to discussions about my goals, expectations, and flexibility. While these questions may seem straightforward, they require self-awareness and clarity about one's career aspirations.
You can navigate these challenging rounds successfully by focusing on solidifying your fundamentals. It's crucial to have a clear understanding of everything you include in your resume—only write about what you genuinely know. Avoid fabricating information or exaggerating skills to impress; honesty and confidence in your knowledge will significantly enhance your chances of success.
