Optum Interview Experience 2024 | TDP Associate (On-campus)

Optum (United Health Group) visited Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) to hire for the Technology Development Program - Software Engineering Associate role. The position offered was full-time, with locations in Hyderabad and Gurgaon. The selection process consisted of three rounds: an online test followed by two interviews.

Eligibility Criteria

  • CGPA Requirement: 7.0 or above.
  • Candidates Shortlisted for Online Test: 402.

Round 1: Online Test

The first round was a proctored test conducted on the Mettl platform, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. It included:

MCQs (50 questions), divided into four sections:

  • Verbal Ability
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Abstract Reasoning
  • Technology Concepts (OOPs, DBMS, basic programming concepts)

1 Coding Question: Focused on Dynamic Programming (DP), classified as easy-medium level.

Outcome:

Out of 402 participants, 72 candidates were shortlisted for the next round.

Round 2: HR Round

This was a 10-15 minute behavioral interview designed to evaluate the candidate's cultural fit within the company.

Key Details:

  • Discussed basic HR questions and a brief overview of the resume.
  • The interviewer was satisfied with my responses and showed a positive demeanor throughout the interaction.

Round 3: Technical Interview

The final round was a 40-45 minute technical interview focusing on technical and problem-solving skills.

Structure of the Interview:

1. Self-Introduction

2. Resume-Based Questions:

  • I explained a project of my choice from my resume and provided a demonstration.
  • The interviewer asked cross-questions to assess my understanding of the project, emphasizing the importance of knowing your work thoroughly.

3. Real-World Application Questions:

  • The interviewer tested my problem-solving abilities and understanding of real-world scenarios.
