Paytm Interview Experience for DevOps Intern On-Campus 2024

Hello Everyone,

I am happy to share my interview experience with Paytm (Noida). The company came for (CSE, IT, and ECE branches). Criteria for the company were 60% in 10th, 12th, and Min. 7 CGPA in B.Tech. There were 3 rounds: a coding round followed by 2 technical rounds, and the whole selection process was virtual.

There's a resume shortlisting round before the coding round. My resume includes cloud technologies like AWS and Microsoft Azure. I used Microsoft Azure for my internship project and worked with some AWS services for a personal project. I also have basic knowledge of AWS services.

Round 1 (Coding Round): The duration of the Coding Round was 60 minutes and had 5 questions: 3 SQL questions, 1 Java OOPs question, and 1 DSA question. The SQL questions were 1 easy and 2 medium. The Java OOPs question was easy and asked us to complete some classes, interfaces, and methods. The DSA question was medium difficulty and was based on arrays. The Languages allowed for DSA questions are (C, C++, Java, and Python). I was able to solve all four questions correctly and was selected for the next round.

Round 2 (Technical Round – 45 mins): The interviewer started by asking me to introduce myself while looking at my resume. Then, he asked about my project and the challenges I faced while working on it. He also asked about my internship. The interviewers were very friendly. I was extremely nervous and stumbling in answering the first question itself, the interviewer told me not to worry and to take as much time as I wanted. That expression made me calm after some time. Here are the other questions he asked:

• Basics of AWS services
• He asked me to explain Git, how I manage code, how to use different branches and their advantages, and the steps for creating and pushing code to GitHub. He also asked for the difference between Git and GitHub.
• Questions related to my projects
• Questions about my internship
• Some Linux commands
• Two DSA questions: the first was easy and focused on arrays and sorting, and the second was slightly medium level, based on arrays and strings.

Verdict: Selected

2nd Technical Round was scheduled after 2 hours.

Round 3 (Technical + Managerial Round - 45 minutes): The round started with my introduction, and then the interviewer introduced themselves. Here are the questions they asked:

• Have you worked with any cloud services?
• Questions related to my projects.
• A Detailed discussion about the challenges I faced while working on my projects.
• Questions about my internship
• What is DevOps?
• Do you know about CI/CD pipelines?
• What does a DevOps engineer do?
• Why do you want to work at Paytm?
• What makes you stand out from the other candidates?
• What are your strengths and weaknesses?

The interview ended with me asking one question, and the interviewer explained it to me.

Verdict: Selected

Tip:

• Before explaining a concept, take a moment to think before you speak. Don't rush when answering questions.
• Only include things on your resume that you are familiar with.
