SAP Labs Interview Experience-2024 | SAP@Scholar Internship | On-campus

Last Updated : 1 Oct, 2024

During my under graduation, in the 4th semester, SAP Labs offered an internship for SAP Scholar. We got to know by our placement officer of our college. I was very excited about this. It contains total 4 rounds:
1. Coding round

2. Technical Round - I

3. Technical Round - II

4. HR Round

Near about 100 to 120 students appeared for Coding round. It contains 2 easy to medium level problems within 45 minutes. Nearly 20 to 21 students got selected.

In first question I need to find the sum of 2 numbers whose product is maximum in an integer array.

In 2nd question I need to find the next permutation of a string.

After 2 days I got a mail from Placement officer that I cleared the first round and will have the rest 3 rounds on 11th June, 2024 from 8.15 AM. But we had a pre placement talk about the process and company's information on that very day from 5 PM. There the senior and some employee who appeared this before shared their experience and told us about the program.

Tech Round - I

It started nearly 9 AM and I have been allotted a slot from 11 AM. I was asked to join the meet and the interviewer firstly introduced himself and told me to introduce me as well. He has been working with SAP nearly 16 years.
As I had three projects in my resume he told me to discuss all the three projects and had a deep conversation in it. After that he gave me 2 puzzles from which I was able to answer one but after a hint able to do the next also. It was a 3 switches and a bulb puzzle & Cutting a cake into 8 pieces. Then he asked if I know Java or c++, i told C++. He asked me to write a code to find 2nd max int from an array in the chat. After that consecutive questions were asked on industry level technologies including CI/CD pipelining, Virtual reality and DevOps and it's mechanism. Lastly He asked me to differentiate between Product and A project. I was able to deliver answer of all of the questions except that one puzzle. Lastly he asked me to discuss their any two products, I told about SAP s4 Hana & ABAP language.
Lastly I asked a question about the mechanism of carbon footprint used by sap in s4 hana, he told me it will take a long time rather i should google it. I was enough confident about the result and within 2 hours I got a mail from the HR.

Tech Round - II

Within 20 students, 9 students appeared for this round virtually. I was allotted a timing from 3 pm on that very day. I was super excited and was confident that I will be asked based on DBMS and core Computer fundamentals as I was not asked those in Tech-I. The interviewer was experienced enough also. He told me to introduce as well put my name and name of institute in the chat. Then he asked me about a project which I developed for my college department. After that He told me to write a sql query to find the count of employees having grade='3' and display their second highest salary from Employee table(Emp_id, grade, salary). I was able to write almost the whole query but one parameter I missed. Then he told me to write the quick sort code in notepad, which I able to do. Then some consecutive questions from software testing were asked but I clarified that this topic is in upcoming semester so he moved to AI.
I was asked about the case study based AI questions like the options checking in previous age in competitive exams were done by AI or not and how it developed today? Moreover I was asked about basic difference between AI, ML DL and NLP, If ML is part of AI so which part do not contribute in ML but in Ai, i told NLP which was correct. Then he asked about tokenization, steaming and Lemmatization, which i haven't heard, so unable to answer. Now he also asked to discuss the difference between product and project I gave the same answer like the tech-I but now he was not satisfied. He asked me to tell the mechanism of TCS, Wipro, Infosys etc. Lastly I asked about the same carbon foot print based question to him as well and he answered me taking 20 minutes. I have given the last hour questions in much more low confident way which is not preferrable as I didn't knew the answers on AI. So I had gut feeling of rejection and after 1 hours I didn't get any mail that indicates I was rejected.

Key Points to note down:

1. These days in the era of Ai, only basic knowledge is scary, You must have at least 50 to 60% knowledge about a topic.

2. While delivering thoughts be crystal clear and be confident so that if anything goes wrong Your confident will give you a chance to win.

3. Have good hold in computer fundamentals and newly technologies mainly industry level.

4. Do proper research about company and be ready with their motto and their products or services before appearing to interview.

5. Do not cross connect and understand the questions properly if not feel free to repeat the questions again.

6. Failure is a best Teacher, always have the attitude to learn more, grow more, get the experience and take it in positive vibe it will grow you more.

I would like to conclude here by saying it is not the end and every time you are rejected means your are approaching one step closure to your goal.
Thank You
