Recently, I had the chance to interview with TCS, and I’m excited to share my experience. The entire process was smooth and engaging, providing an opportunity to showcase my skills and knowledge.
The interview started with a technical assessment where I solved a Python question on paper. I was also asked a series of DBMS-related questions, testing my understanding of database concepts. The interviewer was supportive, encouraging me to explain my thought process as I tackled the questions. This segment was straightforward and served as a solid foundation for the rest of the process.
In this round, the focus shifted to the projects listed on my resume. The manager asked detailed questions about their applications and implementations. I explained one of my projects using the example of bank transactions, which caught the manager’s interest and led to a discussion on related topics. For instance, I was asked how servers handle multiple transactions simultaneously and whether performance degrades under heavy load. This allowed me to showcase my knowledge of system performance and scalability.
Since many of my projects revolved around machine learning, the manager asked me to explain the algorithms I had used, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs). I highlighted how my project offered improvements over existing solutions, emphasizing the innovations and efficiencies I had introduced.
The HR round was pleasant and conversational. I was asked why I wanted to join TCS and what I knew about the company. I expressed my admiration for TCS’s global presence, innovative projects, and supportive work culture, and I explained how I envisioned contributing to the organization’s vision while growing professionally.
The interviewers created a comfortable and approachable environment, turning the process into a meaningful conversation rather than a formal evaluation. Their questions were insightful, allowing me to discuss both my technical expertise and my problem-solving abilities.
Takeaways and Advice In summary, the interview was a positive experience that allowed me to highlight my skills while learning about TCS’s expectations and culture. For anyone preparing for a similar interview, here are some tips:
