IJ01975: CRASH IN JIT MODULE WHILE RUNNING JAVA 8SR5 PROFILING METHOD ON X86 HARDWARE

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Error Message: The failure mode will be a crash, usually in the
  libj9jit29.so with a JIT compiled method immediately above on
  the backtrace where the compiled method is the result of a
  profiling compilation. This problem only affects the x86
  platform and will likely be intermittent.

Local fix

• It may be possible to workaround this issue using -Xjit:exclude
  and -Xjit:dontInline to prevent the problem method from being
  compiled - this will negatively affect performance.
  

Problem summary

• Under very rare circumstances the JIT may attempt to profile a
  value which is unresolved. This can result in two stack swaps
  and a corrupted register state when running a JIT compiled
  method which resulted from a profiling compilation on an x86
  hardware.
  

Problem conclusion

• The internal control flow sequence generated by the compiler has
  been modified to prevent corrupting the register and stack state
  if an unresolved value is profiled.
