IJ05810: JIT COMPONENT CRASHES ON Z14 WHEN COMPILING A JAVA FUNCTION WHICH CALLS THE DATAACCESSACCELERATOR API

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: A JIT segmentation error is received compiling a
Java method that ends up invoking the DataAccessAccelerator
(DAA) API on z14 Linux and z/OS.

Local fix

  • This issue can be worked around using the -Xjit:disableVectorBCD
    option.

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused when a Java method calls the DAA API and
the API method is hardware accelerated using z14 vector packed
decimal instructions. The JIT compiler crashes when emitting
    such vector instructions.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix has been made and delivered to the Java JIT to prevent the
crash from happening when emitting z14 vector packed decimal
    instructions.
    .
This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases:
     8 SR5 FP15 (8.0.5.15)
