Language Environment will subsequently throw an ABEND U4083 with reason code 15 (X'0F'). . Stack Trace: The segmentation fault will occur at +282 offset of the LEVGFM16 function in libzip.so. The failing instruction is: VLM %v5, %v8, 0(%r3). The Java stack at the point of failure will show: java/util/zip/CRC32.updateBytes(int, byte<OSB><CSB>, int, int) (Native Method) java/util/zip/CRC32.update(byte<OSB><CSB>, int, int) source: CRC32.java:87 .
Local fix
Problem summary
The LEVGFM16 function in libzip.so, used to compute CRC-32 checksum, incorrectly used 64-bit instructions to operate on 32-bit buffer lengths and pointers.
Problem conclusion
The implementation for CRC-32 has been updated to prevent the crash from occurring. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Releases: . IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition 8 SR7 FP15 (8.0.7.15) .
