Problem summary

• Memory leak when using byte to char arrays converter with Semeru
  
  
  JDK on z/OS as the JNI references were not cleared leading to
  Heap OOM
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix introduced here ensures that all the JNI references are
  cleared after converting byte to char arrays.
