  Semeru 21 on z/OS Logger messages are garbled for Java workloads
  
  launched via the JZOS batch launcher. They are displayed as
  expected with earlier Java versions or when launched from
  BPXBATCH in Java 21. Setting the JZOS_ENABLE_OUTPUT_TRANSCODING
  environment variable to false fixes the JZOS batch launcher
  logger garbled character problem in Java 21.
  

Local fix

• For 21.0.6 and 21.0.7 use:
   export JZOS_ENABLE_OUTPUT_TRANSCODING=false
  

Problem summary

• Semeru 21 on z/OS Logger messages are garbled for Java workloads
  launched via the JZOS batch launcher. They are displayed as
  expected with earlier Java versions or when launched from
  BPXBATCH in Java 21.
  

Problem conclusion

• JZOS batch launcher code was modified to take into account
  changed internal processing of code set variables caused by the
  Java JEP 400 update.
