US-based venture capital firm Green Flag Ventures announced its investment in MaXon Systems, a Ukrainian defense tech company developing an autonomous, end-to-end Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAVs) platform. The company designed the system to protect cities and critical infrastructure from high-volume drone swarms.

A participant in the Brave1 defense innovation cluster, MaXon Systems pairs proprietary high-speed interceptors with long-range tracking and integrated targeting software to neutralize “Shahed” type drones and their modifications. The technology has already reached TRL 8 maturity, meaning the system is complete and qualified through testing and demonstrations.

The developer focuses on providing full end-to-end autonomy across launch, mid-course, and terminal phases. It enables multi-interceptor parallel control from a remote command post and integrates radar-based terminal guidance to ensure all-weather performance.

“MaXon’s roadmap is clearly aligned with the future requirements of scalable air defense,” Green Flag Ventures stated on LinkedIn. “This is precisely the type of autonomy-first architecture that will define the next decade of European and NATO-relevant air defense modernization.”

With support from the Brave1 cluster, MaXon Systems closed its first investment round with contributions from Freedom Fund and Defender Ventures.

According to ex-minister of digitalization Mykhailo Fedorov, the system was tested in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. The company’s technology integrates solutions from other Brave1 participants, allowing different defense startups to combine their capabilities.
