It's good to see Reese Witherspoon back on the boat again. This reminded me of a mixture of Into the Wild, Tracks, and 127 Hours. I think this is definitely one of her top roles as I think she gave a range of emotions and scenarios. She truly plays against type and owns it perfectly. Nothing really wild about this film about redemption and accepting to live with your past. Decent movie. Good stuff. (The book was way much better imho.)

OK when you're just in the company of Reese and the wilderness, but the flashbacks structure kills the magic (even its Laura Dern in them).People she meets in the trial are OK too.

"First viewing - Sept. 1st Unbeknownst to me, I wound up bookending my Saturday with a pair of Nick Hornby films as he wrote the screenplay for Wild. My co-worker friend loaned his copy of the film to me after we'd had a conversation where he brought it up & I had no idea what it even was. The film mainly served as a reminder of all the reasons I'd originally been impressed with Reese Witherspoon. She gives a great performance all around, which isn't surprising but it was a little disappointing "
