I watched this out of nostalgia and it was not good from the start but I powered through anyway, hoping it might improve. It did not. I thought maybe I just remebered the first one with rose coloured glasses so I watched it again and it was still pretty good. It seems the main purpose of this movie is to cram as many cameos in as possible. That's all the movie really is. I know Sandler loves cameos but this is excessive. 77 cameos. That's 1 cameo every 1 and half minutes by runtime. And in that almost 2 hour runtime I didn't chuckle once. Nothing was funny. And perhaps if they'd cut a few of those cameos that could have spent some of that 152 millio budget on better de-aging for Julie Bowen. Because that was bad.

Just what we needed. Another "predator in unexpected movie". It's a stupid premise that needs to be retired. I love a good shark movie. the problem is that there are lots of shark movies but only a handful of good ones. This is not one of them. This is basically Jaws but in Paris. So ratherjust rewatch Jaws with a French dub if that's what you're looking for.

I think if this had been released earlier in the franchise my opinion might be different. The "origin" story was interesting to provide some context and the traps were some of the best in the franchise IMO. The problem is that after 10 of these it just feels "been there, seen that". And that's largely what I found to be the problem with the last few. No matter how unique they try to make them, it still feels like it's been done too many times. This is a formula that probably only had 2 or 3 sequels in it at most. Even though some of them have been ok I can't help but feel I didn't need to see them.

While not a terrible movie, it's also not particularly good. This has been done so many times in horror movies and it's been done better. The Boogeyman brings nothing new. I found myself feeling that I've seen this movie before. Because I have, many times. It's light on scares and the few jump scares were predictable. Not even the attempts at creating a dark atmosphere was enough to create suspense. If I had to sum it up. Average, boring and forgettable. In a word, generic.

I loved the animation style. It's something new and refreshing. The story itself is fun and engaging and the dialogue was entertaining. Fight scenes were a lot of fun to watch. I love that they made Splinter like a real, weird dad. There was some great humour in here and the running jokes landed every time. In general I enjoyed how the characters were treated. Even the traditional TMNT villains weren't bad in the end. It's a departure but I enjoyed the different take. The only thing I think they should have worked on was more clearly defining the turtles themselves. They've always had their very distinct and individual characters. For me they tended to blur into each other. Like you couldn't really tell them apart from a personality standpoint most of the time. Sure, they had different voices, "costumes" and weapons - but other than that they didn't stand apart enough. But that's about my only real critcism.

It's not a bad movie per se. It's just nothing particularly good. There's nothing remarkable or memorable. It just feels like the same thing we've already seen. Over and over and over. Had we not already seen this formula coming from Pixar so many times it might be a different case. I got bored so many times watching it and I don't have the inclination to go back and watch what I missed. It's so unmemorable that in a week, if someone asked me to tell them about it I wouldn't be able to.

At its core, this movie is ridiculous and over-the-top and I love it for that. And it's not trying to be more than that. It's just a fun, enjoyable ride. And honestly, if you went into it expecting different then you only have yourself to blame. And this is coming from soneone who doesn't like Jason Statham. Hilarious to see people giving bad ratings for not being a movie it was never even trying to be. I suspect they either never saw it or they decided they wouldn't like it no matter what.

Sure, there's a little wokeness but it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be and far less than other movies these days. I'm the least woke person you'll ever find but I barely noticed it. Overall it's an enjoyable movie. On a side note: I couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity and then I realised. It's basically The Lord of the Rings: Transformers Edition.

I was bored and looking for something to watch and scrolled right past this one (That title is super cringey). Anyway, after scrolling for ages I watched the trailer and it looked ok. It was not. I nearly tapped out in the first 10 minutes. The acting is just horrendous and it feels low-budget. But, having nothing else to watch I stuck it out. I regret that decision. The sheer absurdity of anyone successfully dismantling a cartel encampment. Let alone 3 girls with zero skills. The whole premise is ridiculous. There's simply no way to convince myself that these particular people would have the slightest chance of taking on a hardened criminal organisation. Their qualifications for the mission are questionable at best. Ryder, having no other skills than "Extreme sports" takes down an enormous underground fighting champion. Diamond's only claim to expertise is her father's status as an action movie star, which apparently is enough. Unless she learnt it by osmosis that's not how any of this works. The villa conveniently possesses an arsenal of weapons and a 3D printer, suggesting that's all you need. Training is not required. The reference to "a certain set of skills" makes it even more apparent. There has been no shortage of the certain set of skills trope. It's been a thing since Rambo. A highly trained guy, now living a normal life, single-handedly takes down an army/cartel/gang. And it worked well in movies like Taken and Nobody. Having watched the trailer I thought this would be similar. They'd have some actual secret skills. Based on the title I was expecting a movie dripping with wokeness. Instead, I found a b-grade Charlie's Angels. This is an action movie made by people who have no idea how to make an action movie. Written by people who have no idea hiow to write a movie. You might believe, based on this, that my problem with the movie is the fact that they're female. You'd be wrong. That's part of why the trailer looked ok. I expected a Taken style action movie with the twist of 3 unexpected women. The closest it gets to that is the quote.

Nope. These live remakes are just starting to feel like a cash grab. Disney's attempt to milk some cash out of old properties. And that would be fine if they were as good or better. But they aren't. I have no problem with changing the race of the characters. Hell, I don't care if you stick a half Mongolian/half Jamaican in the role. If they can act and do the role justice then have at it. And Halle Bailey does a decent job in an otherwise meh movie. But I have one huge problem. Unless that hair is flaming red then she ain't Ariel. Sorry, but when it comes to something this iconic you don't change the iconic thing. And no, that hair is not red. Not properly anyway. And don't get me started on the abominations that are Sebastian and Flounder. They're just made of wrongness. Flounder is probably the main victim. And on that note. This has some of the worst CG I've seen. Disney movies are really starting to loook like low-budget trash. What's clear from this and other recent Disney remakes (and let's be honest, most of their recent movies), Disney has lost its magic. In the interest of preserving what's left of my fond childhood Disney memories I'll be ignoring any remakes from here on in.

Of all the horror sub-genres, exorcism has probably been the most abused (second only to the haunted house sub-genre). It's one of the most overused horror devices and one of the most poorly done. My default assumption is that any movie with exorcism in will probably be bad. Vatican Tapes isn't bad persay. It has the makings of a decent horror movie. The problem is that it's stupid. I could have enjoyed it if it was just a generic horror. It could have been an ok watch. But they decided to try to add a dumb spin to it. One that fails miserably. I've had a bit of a love hate relationship with Sandler over the years. Back in the 90s his brand of comedy worked well enough but over the years his man child character wore thin. What I once found funny became amusing and then just grating. But he's still done a few decent movies scattered in there over the years. The first Murder Mystery wasn't great but it also wasn't terrible. I mean I wouldn't watch it again but it was ok to pass 90 minutes. It's no masterpiece but it's better than most of his other movies. And Murder Mystery 2 isn't really terrible. It's a "pass the time" movie. Not better or worse than the first. Just more of the same. And that's why it gets the low rating. They took the first script and changed a few details. This is basically the first movie with a different crime and locations. It's lazy.

If anything, you should be complaining of a lack of Italians in the cast. Lemma just remind you real quick. Mario and Luigi are Italian while you are Columbian and Bob Hoskins is British. The original Children of the Corn was probably one of the weaker 80s horror movies. Once you got past the creepy kids there really wasn't much to it. But, they still churned out a host of sequels with various degrees of terribleness. Of all the classic horror movies out there, Children of the Corn least needed more than 1. But yet here we are with yet another one and I don't know where in the scale of badness it rates. But it shouldn't exist. I don't know who I'm more angry with. The people who made it or myself for watching the thing in the first place. I knew what I was getting myself into and still I watched it. This had the potential to be really good but ultimately, it fails to do what the original did. You see the first one managed to create an atmosphere you just can't find in a horror movie and definitely can't find in this one. It was scary and by the end, you really did buy into the narrative. That maybe, just maybe saying Candyman 5 times, he might just appear. But what it really did well was to tell the same story that this one tries (and fails) to tell. It successfuly handled the deeper themes. And it did it without forcing them down your throat. It did a great job conveying the message and still being a really great horror movie. This sequel isn't a particularly good horror movie. Yes, it's very well scored and shot. But that's about all it has going for it. There's nothing you haven't already seen 1000 times in any other horror/slasher. You see, the reason is that it's not a horror movie. It's a political statement masquerading as a horror movie. More importantly. In an effort to push its narrative, it neglects the story and the characters. I see people commenting that the negative reviews are only because we don't get the "themes". Well we get it now and we got it with the original. The difference is that the original handled it tactfully and wove it into the story and the horror. It still successfully conveyed its message. More so than this one. Watching this sequel is like constantly being hit with a brick. WHITE BAD. WHITE BAD. WHITE BAD.

Or if you're pretentious then this is perfect for you. For instance. If you're the kind of person who describes it as a masterclass, masterpiece or anything similar, then you're either so pretentious that you really believe that, or you just want people to believe you're somehow more enlightened than the rest of us philistines. Any time I see stories about a horror movie being so scary/gory that people walked out of theatres, threw up or passed out - I’m immediately sceptical. And my scepticism is justified every time. Mostly, they just turned out to be publicity stunts. In fact, I now just assume that to be the case. To be fair, I’m probably not the best judge of these things, since it takes a lot to elicit that kind of reaction from me. But a few movies have got close. And so, I watched Terrifier 2 partly because I enjoyed the first one but also to see if there really was any validity to these claims. It’s really gory. More so than Terrifier 1 and more than I expected. Do I believe the claims? Yes, I do. Even I was on the edge a couple of times. Although that may have had something to do with watching it while eating lunch. I’m still on the fence as to whether I enjoyed it or not. On the one hand, it’s a good 80s horror cheesiness. On the other, there were times it felt like some of the gore was done purely for the shock value. It feels like they did it just for the sake of making it gory.
