Police hunt man who 'chased and grabbed three young children' in Huddersfield park

A major manhunt is underway for a man police say grabbed three young children by their hair and clothes in a park in Huddersfield.


Moments before the attack, the suspect also assaulted another man playing a guitar close to the play area in Calton Street in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire Police say.


The man allegedly chased after three youngsters before he grabbed them by their clothes and hair between 4.30pm and 5pm on Tuesday.


No injuries were reported as a result of the shocking incidents. The suspect is said to be of average height and skinny build with short black hair and possible black facial hair. He appeared to be of Asian or Eastern European origin and aged in his thirties or forties, police said.

The man was wearing a black puffer jacket, green tracksuit and black shoes. Detectives are appealing for help from the public and have asked any witnesses and asked anyone with information to come forward.


A statement from West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are investigating an incident where three young children had their hair and clothing grabbed by a man while in a Huddersfield park are appealing for witnesses.

"The incident occurred in a play area in Calton Street on Friday, 8 May between 4.30pm and 5pm. It was reported that the suspect assaulted a male who was playing a guitar and then chased after the children.

"No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as Asian or Eastern European. He was said to be in his thirties or forties, of average height and of skinny build. He was also said to have short black hair and possibly black facial hair and was wearing a black puffer jacket, a green tracksuit and black shoes.
