A huge fire has erupted at a building in Paris with vast plumes of dark smoke pouring in to the sky the French capital.
The blaze is at a large warehouse in Bobigny, a commune in the north-east of Paris located in the Seine-Saint-Denis department.
Multiple fire crews are working to tackle the flames with local media saying the blaze is expected to burn for several hours. The Paris fire service has warned people to stay away from the area.
The Seine-Saint-Denis prefect has just issued an update on the Bobigny fire this afternoon.
The statement reads: "The fire that broke out in the Henri-Gautier sector in Bobigny is now contained. No victims to report. There are no injuries among the Paris Fire Brigade personnel.
"Toxicity analyses of the smoke indicate levels below regulatory thresholds. The prefect has deactivated the departmental operational center [see update at 2.21pm].
"Monitoring of the site by the Paris Fire Brigade will continue throughout the night at least. A security perimeter is therefore maintained at this stage, as well as a special traffic arrangement."
A second fire has erupted this afternoon in Courbevoie in the north-west of Paris.
The fire in Henri Gautier, Bobigny, remains ongoing as around 170 firefighters and 50 fire engines have been deployed to the blaze.
The Seine-Saint-Denis prefect has confirmed that about 4,000sqm (43,055sqft) of warehouse space is currently alight.
The same authority adds that there are no reports of injuries or missing persons.
The statement reads: "Fire still ongoing in the Henri Gautier sector in Bobigny. Approximately 170 firefighters mobilized with 50 vehicles on site. Approximately 4000m2 of warehouses currently on fire.
"No reports of victims or missing persons. The prefect is on site for regular situation updates. Emergency services are fully mobilised, avoid the sector during the operation."
The Paris Fire Brigade also told the AFP news agency that getting the fire under control is "a very long operation which will require several hours of firefighting with the most powerful hydraulic equipment", according to Le Parisien.
The fire service is also aiming to limit the spread of the fire and secure the surrounding area as incidents of this kind usually conclude with "the collapse of the building".
A statement posted on the official Seine-Saint-Denis prefect X account states that the centre opérationnel départemental (COD) has been activated.
The command provides localised crisis management in emergencies spanning multiple agencies and is staffed by the police, fire department and transport operators.
It serves as a central hub for major incidents.
The prefect statement reads: "A fire is currently underway in Bobigny. The Paris Fire Brigade services are on site. Avoid the area. At the request of the Seine-Saint-Denis prefect, the [departmental operational centre] has been activated."
The fire in Bobigny broke out this afternoon at an industrial site on Rue Gutenberg, Le Parisien reports.
The French newspaper added that Paris Fire Brigade (Brigade de sapeurs-pompiers de Paris) has confirmed the fire started this afternoon.
The Mirror has contacted the fire service but was told a comment will not be released.
Firefighters remain at the scene and people have been told to avoid the area, RTL, a French radio broadcaster, reports.
The Bobigny town council reportedly confirmed the blaze is taking place at a storage warehouse of approximately 7,000sqm (75,350sqft) at the Vignes industrial park.
Le Parisien adds that the fire is not yet under control and could continue for several hours.
