The Leader of Newbury Town Council, Cllr Gary Norman, presented his annual report at the Annual Town Meeting on 16 March, offering a comprehensive overview of the Council’s key activities, developments and achievements over the past year.

The Annual Newbury Town Civic Awards presentation took place on Friday 20^th March 2026 at St Nics Church Hall. The awards presented included the Newbury Town Civic Award, the Young Person’s Civic Award, the Business Civic Award, the Environmental Contribution Award, and the Local Community Group Civic Award.

Newbury Town Council is calling on young entrepreneurs to take part in a special Young Traders Market taking place in the Market Place on Saturday 30 May together with our regular Market stalls.

The popular Newbury in Bloom campaign is back for 2026, and entries are now officially open. Residents, businesses, schools, and community groups are encouraged to start planning their displays and register to take part in this much-loved annual celebration of gardening and community pride

Sunday’s community tree-planting initiative saw a great turnout, with local residents coming together to help plant 40 new trees across Hutton Close and Wash Common Recreation Ground

Today we are flying the Ukrainian flag to mark the anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This small but visible gesture reflects our continued solidarity with the people of Ukraine and our support for peace and freedom.

The Mayor of Newbury’s fundraising concert at the Waterside Centre on Friday 20 February proved to be a great success, raising a fantastic £1,231 in support of local charity Berkshire Youth.
