Interfaces

We have an IFileSystem interface usable to do all file system operations, whether its the local filesystem or a remote filesystem. You can implement your own or use the Mastronardi.Utils.IO.FileSystem implementation for the local filesystem. You can also use the Mastronardi.Utils.Azure.Blob package to use the azure blob storage trough this interface.

You start by using the factory, and that can be done trough the Create or CreateAsync method of the IFileSystemFactory

BlobStream

Sql Server has the FileStream column where you can store blobs in Sql Server. To read these you can use this BlobStream to read from it. It requires that you add a stored procedure that does this:

its name must end with SELECT

SELECT @Pointer=TEXTPTR(blob), @Length=DataLength(blob) FROM tblBlob WHERE blobId='" + blobID.Replace("'", "''") + "'

For reading the sp name must end with READ

READTEXT tblBlob.blob @Pointer @Offset @Size

for writing the sp name must end with UPDATE

UPDATETEXT tblBlob.blob @Pointer @Offset @Delete WITH LOG @Bytes

When reading data from Sql Server you might want to cache the file locally, you can use FileCachingBlobStream for that. While reading it also writes to a stream you provide

Growing File Stream
