AMD Posts Open-Source Linux Patches For Pensando RDMA Driver
The newest open-source Linux driver being worked on by AMD engineers is a Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) solution for their Pensando networking hardware.
Posted a short time ago on the Linux kernel mailing list are patches for introducing the AMD Pensando RDMA driver for use with AMD-Pensando network adapters and getting all of the Remote DMA capabilities exposed. AMD acquired Pensando a few years back and is playing a big role in their open AI networking push.
The AMD Pensando RDMA driver is building off the Pensando IONIC driver code originally upstreamed to the Linux kernel back in 2019 even before Pensando Systems exited stealth mode.
Today's patch series splits up the IONIC Ethernet driver code and extends it to support RDMA. Those interested can see this kernel mailing list patch series for the AMD Pensando RDMA driver details.
