xf86-video-amdgpu 1.4.0 / xf86-video-ati 7.10.0 Released
Michel Dänzer of AMD has released updated stable versions of their AMDGPU and Radeon X.Org DDX drivers today.
Today's xf86-video-amdgpu 1.4 DDX driver release is for those using the AMDGPU DRM driver, namely GCN 1.2 GPUs and newer or GCN 1.0/1.1 if using the AMDGPU DRM driver's experimental support for those earlier GPUs. AMDGPU 1.4 now allows clients to use DRI page-flipping while TearFree is enabled for any CRTC. The updated driver also fends off other DRM Master processes from accessing buffers created by this driver when switched to a different VT. The other notable change is that the gamma ramp is applied now to hardware cursors too.
There are more than four dozen changes in the AMDGPU 1.4 DDX update, but most of the changes are small fixes made by Dänzer. The change-log can be found via the mailing list.
Also out today is xf86-video-ati 7.10.0. This updated DDX for those using the Radeon DRM driver (mostly pre-GCN GPUs) have similar changes with allowing DRI page-flipping while TearFree is on, the preventing of other DRM master processes from accessing the driver's buffers, and applying the gamma ramp to hardware cursors. The list of the 7.10 changes here.
