AerynOS, the Linux distribution formerly known as Serpent OS, is out with a new monthly ISO refresh and details on other recent improvements to this original, from-scratch Linux distribution.

AerynOS this month rolled out their new branding and artwork/wallpapers for the operating system, continued making improvements to their in-house tooling and components like Moss and Boulder, and also shipped a wide variety of package updates.

AerynOS now has Rust 1.95, Wine 11.7, QEMU 11.0, KDE Plasma 6.6.4, GNOME 50.1, COSMIC 1.0.11, and other updated software. AerynOS has also notably upgraded from Python 3.11 to Python 3.14.

On the kernel side, Linux 6.18 remains their Linux-LTS package flavor. Meanwhile their "linux-stable" build is now tracking the Linux 7.0 stable kernel that debuted earlier in April. AerynOS also now has a "linux-gaming" package that is tracking Linux 7.0 stable but with some added patches to enhance the handheld gaming device support and also some performance optimizations catering to gamers.
