Microsoft released Azure Linux 3.0.20260506 on Saturday in order to ship the latest security fixes affecting a wide variety of open-source software projects.

Azure Linux 3.0.20260506-3.0 ships all the latest security fixes of the past few weeks affecting Avahi, GNU Binutils, libssh, Node.js, Ruby, the Linux kernel, Rust, and dozens of others.

Beyond dozens of package updates for security issues, the new Azure Linux 3.0 update for May 2026 does improve live migration support in QEMU. There is also a variety of Azure Linux specific fixes, enabling CONFIG_IKCONFIG_PROC for its ARM64 kernel configuration, building Wireshark now with Lua support, and other updates.

While not affected by today's release, in case you missed it, Microsoft is looking at rebasing Azure Linux atop Fedora.
