Debian APT 3.0 Stable Released With New Package Solver & Refined Text UI

APT 3.0 has been officially released as the first stable version following an interesting development cycle. APT 3.0 has been dedicated to the late Steve Langasek with his many Debian and Ubuntu contributions over the years.

APT 3.0 stable is now released ahead of Ubuntu 25.04 and the Debian 13.0 release later in the year. APT 3.0 has turned out to be a very significant update to this package management tool and rather nice for end-users with the text user interface (TUI) refinements.

👁 APT 3.0

APT 3.0 is the stable version following the APT 2.9 development series. This stable release brings forward the new package solver and very prominent for Linux command-line users is the new UI with colors, columnar displays, and other improvements. I've been loving the refined text user interface of APT 2.9 releases and now in APT 3.0. It's much more polished than before and all around looking great.

Look for APT 3.0 to begin appearing on Debian/Ubuntu based Linux distributions moving forward for those that haven't already been closely following the development releases.
