Emacs 25.1 Released With Cairo Drawing, Better Network Security

For those not running the new, feature-packed Vim 8.0, GNU Emacs 25.1 was released on Saturday with several new features and improvements.

Emacs 25.1 comes with support for being able to load shared/dynamic libraries as modules to the program and there is experimental support for Cairo drawing as two of the big feature additions. Besides the experimental Cairo support there is also new support for embedding native widgets inside Emacs buffers with Xwidgets.

The Emacs 25.1 release also has improvements to network security (such as TLS/SSL certificate validity checking),, a new electric-quote-mode, and new/improved features around inserting Unicode characters.
