Written by Michael Larabel in Linux Kernel on 20 May 2026 at 08:29 AM EDT. 74 Comments
Greg Kroah-Hartman took time away from his duties as Linux's second-in-command as stable maintainer, various subsystem maintainer, and recent hobby of using AI/LLMs for uncovering Linux kernel bugs to present at the Rust Week conference.

Rust Week 2026 is taking place this week in Utrecht, Netherlands as the world's biggest Rust programming language conference. This morning he presented on Rust language use within the Linux kernel and its benefits.

Greg also called Rust "more fun for maintainers" and "more secure Linux for users". Greg ultimately ended his presentation with calling for more Rust Linux kernel developers.
