Kabylake PCI IDs Land In Intel's X.Org Driver
Intel's X.Org DDX driver has now been patched with the PCI IDs for Kabylake, the successor to Skylake that's due out in 2016.
Last month Intel began publishing open-source patches for Kabylake across their Linux graphics stack. On the kernel side the Kabylake support won't land until Linux 4.5, but the xf86-video-intel driver has already received the PCI ID additions.
The Kabylake PCI IDs are for the GT1, GT2, GT3, and GT4 varieties and all of the various flavors from there for these next-gen graphics considered "Gen 9.5" by Intel. Here's the PCI IDs.
With Kabylake's graphics processors architecturally not being very different from Skylake, Intel should have good out-of-the-box Linux support by the time the hardware ships next year.
