Intel Adds Another Battlemage BMG-G21 PCI ID To Their Linux Driver
Intel has introduced another new PCI device ID to their open-source Linux graphics driver stack for signifying another likely product on the way based on the Battlemage BMG-G21 GPU.
Intel recently merged a new PCI device ID to their Xe kernel driver for Linux 6.17. That's also marked for back-porting to supported stable Linux kernel versions going back to Linux 6.12.
Merged this morning was the similar patch for the Intel Mesa driver code. The patch identifies the new 0xe209 device ID as being a BMG G21 GPU. That Mesa patch is also marked for back-porting to the Mesa 25.1 and 25.2 series.
That now puts the Intel Mesa driver code as having eight PCI IDs for BMG G21 with only four identified so far: Arc B570, Arc B580, Arc Pro B50, and Arc Pro B60. There is also another four PCI device IDs reserved for BMG G31 and two more device IDs simply marked as "BMG". Of course, some of these IDs may be reserved for pre-production/engineering hardware and/or possible but currently not planned products.
Whatever the case, nice to see the Intel Battlemage graphics card family expanding. This also comes amid new Intel Linux graphics driver features landing with Project Battlematrix coming together for Q4.
