KDE Plasma 6.5 To Introduce Wayland Picture-In-Picture Support

While KDE Plasma 6.4 is set for release next week, there are already exciting feature improvements brewing for Plasma 6.5.

KDE developer Nate Graham is out with his weekly blog post that summarizes all of the interesting Plasma changes for the week. Most notable is that Plasma 6.5 will introduce experimental support for Wayland picture-in-picture support for applications like Firefox to properly render PIP windows. The upstream xdg-pip protocol remains pending after three years but will hopefully be merged soon.

With Plasma 6.5, the Invert and Zoom settings have been merged to the Accessibility page rather than under Desktop Effects.

Plasma 6.5 will also allow virtual desktops on Wayland to be re-ordered from the Pager widget.

Plasma 6.4 and Frameworks 6.15 meanwhile are both bringing improvements to speed the start-up of the System Monitor app.

More details in all of the KDE Plasma changes for the week via Nate's blog.
