Linux Mint Debian Edition 7 is officially out today as the latest version of this Linux Mint distribution based on upstream Debian rather than Ubuntu.

Linux Mint Debian Edition continues to be a hedge against anything happening to Ubuntu in the future or Linux Mint's ability to base off of it. Linux Mint Debian Edition is much like Linux Mint itself but based on upstream Debian rather than Ubuntu. With Linux Mint Debian Edition 7, it's based on the Debian 13 release to debut earlier this year.
