Mir Working On Evdev Device Detection
Besides working on the legacy X11 support atop Mir, Canonical developers working on this display server have just implemented evdev device detection for Mir.
Via this commit yesterday to the Mir Bazaar repository, there's now evdev device detection. "Add evdev device detection. Adds utilities to detect the capabilities of an input device."
This code is for detecting input devices and their capabilities like gamepad buttons, pointers, etc.
Meanwhile, we've heard of Mir developers working towards libinput support but so far that doesn't seem to have materialized. In fact, this repository that was once active with libinput integration hasn't been touched since the beginning of the year. Most Wayland compositors are designing around libinput as their input handling library as well as conventional X11 Linux desktop distributions via the xf86-input-libinput driver to replace xf86-input-evdev/syanptics, etc, but it's not clear yet how far Ubuntu will integrate libinput.
