Mozilla Is Shutting Down Pocket

Written by Michael Larabel in Mozilla on 22 May 2025 at 01:25 PM EDT. 44 Comments
Mozilla announced today it's going to be shutting down its Pocket read-it-later bookmarking service this summer.

Mozilla Pocket will no longer be available after 8 July as the service is shutting down. Export-only support will continue after July but in turn be fully killed off by October.

As for Mozilla's reasoning for ending Pocket, they wrote in today's announcement:
"Pocket has helped millions save articles and discover stories worth reading. But the way people use the web has evolved, so we’re channeling our resources into projects that better match their browsing habits and online needs. "

Mozilla had acquired Pocket in 2017. Those that paid for Pocket Premium will receive prorated refunds.
