The Apache Software Foundation announced last year that they would be changing its corporate logo and overhaul its branding after being criticized by American Indian activists. Today they announced the brand new Apache Software Foundation branding.

The Apache Software Foundation's long-used a feather logo over the past three decades. This was their prior logo:

They have replaced the feather with a oak leaf. As for making an oak leaf for their logo, they announced the new branding on Apache.org and explained:
"The oak is one of the most enduring trees and is found around the world. It grows slowly but steadily, supporting vast ecosystems and lasting for centuries. In the same way, The ASF has served as a stable, resilient steward of open source for more than 25 years and is looking to the long future ahead.

Choosing the oak leaf as our new logo represents the enduring power of our ethos: community over code."

They also announced that while The Apache Software Foundation remains their full legal name, they will be using the acronym "The ASF" as part of their visual identity.
