The Qt Creator integrated development environment focused on Qt/C++ programming is out today with Qt Creator 20 and this new version is headlined by adding AI agent support.

Qt Creator 20 introduces an ACP client extension that from there is a new chat panel added to this IDE for AI agent integration. The AI agent integration uses the Agent Client Protocol (ACP) that is compatible with many different AI/LLM providers like Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, and others.

This ACP client extension complements Qt Creator's existing Model Context Protocol (MCP) support for AI integration added in Qt Creator 19. This goes along with other AI features added to Qt Creator over the past year or so.

Qt Creator 20 also adds a "Zen Mode" extension to help avoid distractions while programming and putting the editor the focus of the work. This updated cross-platform IDE has also updated its Clangd C++ code model from LLVM 22.1.2, support for opening Generate Ninja (GN) projects, and various other improvements.
