Raspberry Pi OS Moves To Linux 6.18 LTS Kernel, Updated LabWC Compositor
Raspberry Pi engineers have released their first update to Raspberry Pi OS since April. With this new version comes the upgrade to the latest Linux 6.18 LTS kernel.
Raspberry Pi OS had been using the Linux 6.12 LTS kernel but now with Raspberry Pi OS 2026-06-18 they are onto the Linux 6.18.34 LTS kernel as the latest long-term support series for that 2025 debut kernel. With that upgrade means better performance, plenty of new drivers, and other kernel features incorporated in the last year.
The updated Raspberry Pi OS also upgrades to LabWC 0.9.7 as the latest improvement to this Wayland compositor used by Raspberry Pi OS. Plus there are other software updates, various new icons, new default touchscreen associations, and other improvements. The latest Raspberry Pi device firmware is also incorporated into the upgrade.
