Following Linux 6.19 adding support for CRKD guitar controllers, new patches posted to the Linux kernel mailing list are bringing some additional guitar controllers to Linux. This latest work is around enabling the Rock Band 4 guitars for the PlayStation 4 and PS5 consoles to work under Linux.

A patch posted Friday to the Linux kernel mailing list by Rosalie Wanders allow for the Rock Band 4 PS4/PS5 guitars to work properly under Linux.

The independent open-source developer commented with the patch to the Linux kernel's Sony HID driver:
"This commit adds support for the PDP RiffMaster and the CRKD Gibson SG in both their PS4 and PS5 modes.

These devices aren't mapped correctly without these changes, they also lack support for their whammy and tilt functionality which this patch adds support for by binding them to the left and right triggers."
So should you have these devices or are looking for some guitar input controllers that work under Linux, the Rock Band 4 guitars from PDP (RiffMaster) and CRKD (Gibson 5G) are on the way. Currently the patch is just on the LKML but will hopefully be soon queued as part of the HID changes to the Linux kernel.
