Linux Display Driver Patches Posted For The Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite

Since Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon X2 Elite last month, Linux patches for the X2 Elite "Glymur" platform have begun flowing. Among the recent Linux patches for the Snapdragon X2 is this past week seeing initial display support.

This week the first two revisions of the MSM Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) driver patches for being able to drive displays with the X2 Elite / Glymur were sent out. The display support with the Snapdragon X2 Elite turns out to be similar to the Snapdragon 8 Elite (SM8750).

The v2 patches from Abel Vera at Linaro note:
"The Glymur MDSS is based on the one found in SM8750, with 2 minor number version bump. Differences are mostly in the DPU IP blocks numbers."

The patches add the necessary X2 Elite / Glymur support to the MSM DRM DP and DPU driver code plus the necessary DeviceTree bindings. This enablement is separate from the 3D / GPU support needed too for the future Snapdragon X2 Elite laptops on Linux.

The code is under review while given the limited churn we'll see if it gets buttoned up in time for the Linux v6.19 cycle.
