Hans-Kristian Arntzen of Valve's Linux graphics driver team announced the release today of VKD3D-Proton 3.0.1 for Direct3D 12 over the Vulkan API.

Arntzen noted right away in the v3.0.1 release announcement that this is likely the last version to be released prior to introducing the much anticipated Vulkan descriptor heap support. What there is new to VKD3D-Proton 3.0.1 includes D3D12 view instancing is now experimentally supported, Vulkan present timing is now supported for smoother frame pacing, Independent Devices feature is now supported, there is support for the AGS WMMA operations needed for FSR4 Ray Reconstruction and Denoiser, new interfaces for dealing with newer versions of NVIDIA's NVAPI, and new interfaces for AMD AGS.

Plus there are a variety of bug fixes, some new performance optimizations especially for mobile/laptop hardware, and other enhancements. There are also a number of workarounds for addressing different game-specific issues from Spider Man 2 to Guardians of the Galaxy and Crimson Desert.
