Enermax Whisper II 2.0 535W SLI
With the growing number of enthusiasts and hobbyists turning to NVIDIA SLI, due to the growing number of performance gains available in different games and applications, and the soon-to-be-released Linux support the need for high quality SLI supported PSUs will continue to rise. In addition, as ATI's CrossFire Technology nears public release, NVIDIA will continue to fuel its multi-GPU arsenal. For those looking at the short list of official SLI certified power supplies by NVIDIA (available at SLI Zone), in our minds the Whisper II 535W (EG565P-VE FMA) is an excellent performer. Although we didn't use two PCI Express graphics cards in our testing, due to the lack of SLI-ready Linux drivers, we did manage to put a fair strain on the Enermax unit with the 7800GTX, DDR2-800, Pentium D 820 @ 3.20GHz, and the i955X motherboard. Even with this hardware, the rails were within their respective ranges and the voltage fluctuation seen was at a minimum. Although the Enermax Whisper II appears to be appealing, we did feel there were a few downfalls mainly with the cable sleeving, or there the lack of. Even though this isn't the sexiest power supply, its high level of performance is definitely well deserved in our hearts as with the other NVIDIA SLI accredited power supply units.
